First things first
You were targeted, not careless
The phrase "pig-butchering" is an unfortunate piece of industry shorthand. The scam itself is a long-form, often 8–14 week, social engineering operation. Operators are paid by a team of specialists who script every conversation. They do not "find" you — they identify a profile and execute a plan against it.
Every client we accept on this line is initially worried that they will be judged. They are not. We have processed several thousand of these matters and we have heard nothing surprising in a long time.
Why the funds side is recoverable
The technical structure beneath the personal story
Romance and pig-butchering scams almost always terminate on a fake "trading platform". That platform, almost by definition, has the same payment-rail vulnerabilities as a fraudulent forex or crypto operator. Our job is to keep the personal narrative private while we work the funds trail.
Platform identification
The fake "trading platform" is mapped to its real operator, payment processor and corporate registration — or lack thereof.
Discretion
You decide which family members or counsel see the case folder. Communications evidence is handled separately from the funds trail.
Reporting support
If you choose to report to Action Fraud, the FBI IC3 or the AFP, we prepare the reporting pack alongside the recovery dossier.
